Happy Thanksgiving, folks! This month I thought I’d take a break from business and use my monthly blog post to share some great events coming to southern Maine and New Hampshire for the holidays. November is a great time to take a pause and be grateful, and in that spirit I want to encourage everyone to do something good for others and to do something good for yourself.
I think these upcoming events are great opportunities for both.
First up we have our upcoming Turkey Drive in York, Maine to benefit the York Community Service Association. On Sunday November 17th we’ll be outside the York Hannaford collecting frozen turkeys, cash donations and non-perishable food items to deliver to the YCSA Food Pantry. We’ll be there from 11 am to 2 pm. Come by for good company and to help a great and very much needed local cause.
Next up is the Artists of Salmon Falls Mills Open Studio in Rollinsford, NH. On November 23rd and 24th come visit the Salmon Falls Mills in Rollinsford and check out the eclectic mix of artists and business owners. You’ll have the opportunity to browse through several floors of open studios, buy local art and products and meet some great people. This is one of my favorite local events to attend! The open studios run from 10 am to 5 pm on both days.
The Seacoast Rotary 5k Turkey Trot will take place on November 28th at 8:30 am in Portsmouth, NH. Burn off the Thanksgiving meal and earn those leftovers while supporting local non-profits!
Check out the 15th Annual Festival of “Fostering” Trees taking place from Friday November 29th through Tuesday December 3rd at Foster’s Clambake in York, Maine. This is a great way to kick of the holiday season! Free admission. Come down and check out dozens of specially decorated trees being raffled off. Buy some raffle tickets and maybe you’ll be lucky enough to win Goldfinch’s “Flora and Felines” themed tree! Money raised this year goes to Empowered Equines and the Trooper Black Foundation.
The Holiday Stroll in Downtown Biddeford takes place on November 30th from 10 am to 4 pm. This is a wonderful small business event featuring a festive atmosphere, a scavenger hunt for kids, some hot cocoa warming stations and live music. Sounds like a great way to celebrate the holidays and help support local businesses!
Bandaloop in Arundel will be hosting its 10th annual Artisan’s Market on December 7th from 10 am to 2 pm. With a great atmosphere and great food, what excuse is there for not coming down and supporting local artists?
Here’s a can’t-miss coming up! Be sure to check out the City of Portsmouth’s Illuminated Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting on December 7th. The tree lighting will be in Market Square at 5:30 pm and the Illuminated Holiday Parade follows at 6. This is a very fun, very festive event in beautiful downtown Portsmouth. The parade is a riot. So come down, check out the local shops, eat some delicious food, and soak up all the festive spirit!
Ogunquit Christmas by the Sea is happening on December 13th through the 15th. Ogunquit is beautiful all year round, so why not come by and see how it looks decked for the holidays. This 3-day event features tree and bridge lightings, live music, craft shows, a parade and fireworks! ‘Tis the season, my friends!
Like me I know most of you have hectic and crazy schedules! But I hope everyone is able to get out to enjoy a couple of these fun events this season! When you do, please share your good time with me on my Facebook page!
Until next time, wishing every one good health and a very happy holiday!
